Harmukh Trip

Harmukh Valley trek is an astonishing high-elevation trail and considered as a most wonderful trek in Kashmir. Harmukh is the 4th highest peak in that valley is set with a picturesque foreground of the magnificent Gangbal lake.

Known as the Eager of Kashmir, it was from Mount Harmukh that Thomas Montgomery, an incredible trigonometric surveyor, first found K1 and K2 Mountains in 1865. The Gangbal Lake is said to be the Ganges of Shivism.

TRIVIA The Harmukh Valley Trek is an early spring trek which we have curated for adventurers looking to break early this summer. The Oligotrophic Lake Gangbal which is at a distance of 15 kms from Naranag (North of Srinagar in Ganderbal District) is home to many species 

of 

fish including the brown trout. The lake lies at the foothills of Mount Harmukh (the second highest peak in the vicinity of Kashmir Valley); known for its magnificence the peak stands tall at 5142mtrs (16,870 ft.). Harmukh is the mountain from which the world‘s second highest peak K2 was discovered during the Great

Trigonometric Survey by Thomas Montgomerie in 

1856. DIFFICULTY LEVEL: MODERATE TREK(GOOD FOR BEGINNERS)

BRIEF ITINERARY​

  • Day 1
  • Drive to Naranag for an overnight stay.
  • Day 2
  • Trunkhol Meadow - 3400 meters. Hike of 5 hrs. via Buthshree
  • Day 3
  • Nandansar lake. Hike 2.5 hrs. Establish camp and overnight stay
  • Day 4
  • Explore Harmukh Vale including Gangbal Lake and adjacent lakes.
  • Day 5
  • Descent of 6 hrs / Drive back home.

DETAILED ITINERARY​

  • Day 1
  • We drive to Naranag North of Srinagar. We establish a base camp and acclimatize to the surroundings including sightseeing of Ancient Temples of Shaivism. At night we light a bonfire followed by the debrief of Trek and a night stay in base camp.
  • Day 2
  • We leave early morning for Trunkhol (3400mtr) from Naranag. A hike of 5 hrs via Buthshree leads us to a massive green meadow called Trunkhol where we camp for overnight stay
  • Day 3
  • We conduct a mild hike to Lake Nandansar, it takes us 2.5 hrs to reach the beautiful Nandansar Lake. We pitch a camp and stay overnight.
  • Day 4
  • Next day we explore Harmukh Vale including Gangabal Lake and adjacent lakes, the day leaves us with serene scenery to resonate in our minds forever
  • Day 5
  • We start a descent of 6 hrs which leads us straight to Naranag where we drive back to Srinagar.

INCLUSIONS

  • Transportation.
  • Daily meals (Breakfast Lunch and Dinner) both Veg / Non Veg (day out refreshments).

  • Lodging in tents and meals for all members of the team for the number of trekking days mentioned above. All stay will be on a twin sharing basis. Single supplements can be provided separately.

  • All porterage charges (Includes porter fees, stay, meals, equipment, etc.) Please note that a maximum of 15 kgs of luggage is permissible per person for the trek. This includes porters to carry the personal bags of the clients.
  • Medical First Aid in case of minor ailments on the trek, supplementary Oxygen
  • Trail pack (snack pack) for the trek days.
  • All trekking equipment required tents, sleeping bags(optional), sleeping mats, kitchen tent, dining tent, camp chairs and toilet tent.
  • Completion Certificates.

COST EXCLUDES

  • Any and all personal expenses incurred outside of the items mentioned in the "Cost includes" section.
  • A la carte items ordered from hotel menus or during the travel..
  • Excess stay either before the trek dates or after the trek is over.
  • Hiring of extra porters/ponies during the trek.
  • Excess boarding and lodging incurred due to bad weather.
  • Soft and alcoholic beverages, laundry charges, cigarettes and telephone expenses, souvenirs/collectibles bought during the course of the trip.
  • Tips paid to any party during the course of the trip.
  • Contingency charges in case of delay due to weather/accident or illness of self or any other group member. Act of God/or any situation out of control for the trip leader/conductor

PAYMENT AND CANCELLATION POLICY

  • Participants will be confirmed only on 50% payment of the total cost of the trek at least 1 month in advance and after a duly filled in participation/guest form is received by Kashmir Compass.
  • he balance payment can be made through channels mentioned in the Mode of Payment at least two weeks prior to the departure.
  • Payment will be made in accordance with the payment modes only.
  • Cancellation: 100% of the payment will be retained if the cancellation is made less than a week prior to departure. Cancellation 7-14 days prior to departure will result
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
  • Kashmir Compass will take utmost care to see to it that your trip is successful and without any glitches. However, the participants will enrol for these trips at their own will and risk. Kashmir Compass will not be responsible for any illness, injury or accident encountered.
  • All participants will adhere to the environment codes attached along with the itinerary. . Please fill in the requisite guest information form and the indemnity bond and mail it back to us.
  • In case any individual decides to drop out of the trek after the trek commences, the decision to continue will lie with the rest of the team members. The team member opting to return will be escorted back to the road-head. However, the individual will have to bear the additional cost of the accompanying porters and any additional nights spent in a camp site.
  • Participants are expected to take utmost care of their personal belongings and of the equipment being given to them. The cost of repairing or replacing damaged equipment will be borne by the participant. Kashmir Compass will not be responsible for the damage or loss of any personal belonging during the course of the trek
  • Kashmir Compass reserves the right of admission to any participant on the trip depending on the fitness condition of the participant.
